February 11, 2015 prompt:<\/strong> In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that demonstrates compassion.<\/strong><\/p>\n So here is my 99-word flash fiction story on compassion:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0The reality show slipped into a commercial break, and his fianc\u00e9e wiggled her hand in front of him again.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cMy sister\u2019s gonna flip with jealousy.\u201d She smirked, splaying her fingers wide. \u201cI can\u2019t wait!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n He turned back to the screen. Puppy eyes stared at him as melancholy notes seeped from the television\u2019s speakers.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n She groaned. \u201cThey should just put them down.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cExcuse me?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cIt would save money.\u201d She shrugged, then readjusted her ring. \u201cNo one wants them anyway.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n![\"Stevie](\"http:\/\/www.cjaiferry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/7623864.jpg\")
While\u00a0working on my story, I kept coming back to someone whose compassion has inspired so many — and he’s not even 10 years old yet. If you haven’t heard of Stevie Nelson<\/a>, I encourage you to read\u00a0about this\u00a0amazing young man who turned a family tragedy into an\u00a0effort to help animals in need.
