Miss me?

Most people send newsletters once or twice a month. Apparently I prefer once or twice a year. Oops.

So this is just a quick note to remind you that I am here, I am still writing, and I have some new flash fiction stories that you might be interested in, which I have included in some links below.

So what is flash fiction? Flash or micro-fiction refers to really short stories. Some people classify them as fewer than 1,000 words (about 4 typed pages), but they can be as short as 99 or even 30 words. Yes, an entire story (beginning, middle, and end) in 30 to 100 words.

(Just FYI, that paragraph up there ^^^ is about 50 words.)

I have incorporated many of my 99-word flash fiction stories into blog posts. Curious? Jump over to the website:

The post in which I talk about grasshoppers and ice cream and love

Last night, while mulling over the challenge Charli Mills at the Carrot Ranch issued this week (write a story about love in 99 words), I decided to grab the pup and go for a drive through the country.

Okay, okay, so I really decided to go get some ice cream, but take a drive through the country sets the romantic stage better. Unfortunately, the country didn’t get the memo about setting the romantic stage setting either.

Before we get into all the fun, I should explain... [continue reading]

Take that writer's block

I have not updated my blog in five months. What’s worse, I have not written in five months, not for myself. I have thought about writing. I have set aside time for writing. I have made promises to get back to writing. Yet nothing got written.

During the last five months I did help a novice writer revise and publish her first book. The process was exhausting, exhilarating, and many other ex- words. I am thrilled that the writer is basking in the glory of being a well-received published author. I have also been pushing her (ahem, she might use the phrase “lovingly harassing”) to get novel two written.

The last few months have also been filled with...

Western Romance

Updates on Corrissa James
(yes, that's me!)

I have now published five romance novellas, ranging from 120 to 200 pages long, that focus on strong-willed women who won't settle for just any man. Set in rural Nebraska, the books in this series are perfect reading for an afternoon of sultry western romance.

If you give the romance genre a try, I am offering my sweet Christmas romance on a Pay What You Want basis via Payhip.

To stay up to date on my romance series, make sure you follow Corrissa's website or Facebook page.

That's all for this month~

In November I will be participating in National Novel Writing Month, during which time I will be trying to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I probably won't send out another newsletter for a few more weeks, but I hope you will follow along with my progress by following me on Twitter or on my blog.

Thank you so much for reading my work. If you know anyone who might enjoy my writing, please feel free to forward this newsletter to them.

Thank you for sharing in this exciting ride with me!
